I HOPE you had an enjoyable Easter bank holiday weekend.

Having performed for The Friends of Flixton Gardens in the past, it was a pleasure for me and my Val to attend the annual fundraising Easter Egg Hunt on bank holiday Monday and see all the great work it is doing to restore and improve the community gardens.

It was nice to see the community join together and the children enjoying the fresh air hunting eggs in the beautiful gardens.

There were cake stalls, face painting, a tombola and a raffle.

There was even a guest appearance from the Easter Bunny!

Karan Beaumont said: “We are here every Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 10am, in all weathers."

If you’d like to join Karan and her team in volunteering to restore the gardens, just turn up and you can also find further details on The Friends of Flixton Gardens Facebook page.

Earlier in the week, my step-son Jon, aka solo artist the Rum Thief, had the launch evening of his new single, Surmise, performing to a sell-out crowd at Chorlton’s popular venue Dulcimer.

I’d love it if you could download the song on iTunes – just search Rum Thief, Surmise or email me if you’d like to buy the CD.

I’d like to share some amazing personal news with you that I'm absolutely thrilled about.

Val and I have been officially invited to Buckingham Palace to attend the Queen’s Garden Party in May.

I will, of course, write all about it at the time, but as I feel so proud and honoured to be invited to this prestigious event I just wanted to share with you my excitement.

To finish, I’d like to thank the two couples who sent me a Wayne’s World hat as a welcome gift to my new weekly column.

I was thrilled to receive this; it means a lot to me and I will wear it with pride!

Please join me next week for my interview with an A-list celebrity who has a special Trafford connection!
