A TIMPERLEY skater's dream has come true as he prepares to take to the ice next week.

Thomas Kehoe, aged 22, who was born and brought up in Redbrook Road, Timperley, will be skating with Disney on Ice.

He attended St Hughes Primary where he had dancing classes at Prime Dance Works, Broadheath — even performing with the group at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.

When he was 12, he was taken to Altrincham Ice Rink, with which he still keeps in touch, and it was a milestone for him.

“I had never skated in my life before. When I came home I told my mum. I am really good at skating and she replied ‘okay, whatever’."

But she encouraged him.

At the ice rink, he had two remarkable coaches – Gillian Edwards and Mike Fish.

“They were very supportive,” he said. “They pushed me to reach my dreams!”

Reaching those dreams involved a lot of hard work. He practised every day at 6am before attending school at Blessed Thomas Holford and repeated the procedure after school.

He started off with small ice shows before joining Holiday on Ice.

Now he is touring with Worlds of Enchantment, a Disney on Ice Show.

He has enough time off to explore new foreign cities with his fellow skaters.

“The beginning of the show is very interesting,” he said. “Toy Story 3 is the most interesting part for me. I play a Green Army soldier. I like the synchronised dancing.

“I am mostly in the chorus. I love it,” he said.

“People who go to the show will see their favourite characters come to life. It will be great.”

When Thomas appears in Liverpool, his parents and four sisters will be there to watch.
