LANCASHIRE Chamber Orchestra returns to the concert platform in Altrincham on Sunday, November 19 for a classical music concert featuring works by Malcolm Arnold, John Ireland, Mozart, Bach and Haydn.
Award-winning Irish guitarist David Keating, a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, joins the orchestra as soloist for Arnold’s enchanting Serenade for Guitar and Strings, followed by a solo guitar arrangement of a Bach violin partita.
Guest conductor Alex Robinson takes the baton for the matinee concert which opens with Ireland’s A Downland Suite, with each of the four movements reflecting a different aspect of the mood and spirit of the South Downs where the composer lived.
After the interval will be Mozart’s rousing Divertimento for Wind in Bb major and the concert will end with Haydn’s Symphony No 80 in D Minor.
The performance at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, starts at 3pm. Tickets cost £10 (children free), including a programme and tea and cakes in the interval. They may be reserved in advance by ringing the LCO box office on 0161 980 4275.
