AS Britain’s first Olympic Ski jumper, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards became an overnight sensation when, in ’88 at Calgary’s Winter Olympics, he lost out on medals by a long way - but won a place in the nation’s hearts for his positive attitude that embodied the true spirit of the Olympics

Now, following the hit 2016 movie starring Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman and the subsequent renewed interest in his life, Eddie will visit Trafford as part of his tour of 17 UK theatres in TRY HARD, his debut ‘audience with…’ style theatre show.

In TRY HARD, Eddie talks through his life-journey - from self-learning ski-jumping and being shunned by the sporting establishment, to the extensive surgery to rebuild his face and body following years of wince-inducing crashes on the snow, as he set out to break world-records in stunt jumping (10 cars and six buses) and speed-skiing (but 'only' reached 106.8mph).

From bankruptcy through trustees’ mismanagement, to gaining a law degree, and even how he became a most unlikely pop-star in Finland, above all, what will shine through is the steely resilience of a fearless man determined to overcome huge sporting and life hurdles in an evening of anecdotes from one of Britain’s sporting underdogs

TRY HARD will be showing at the Waterside Arts Centre, Sale, on Friday, June 9 - to book tickets, contact the Box Office on 0161 912 5616, visit watersidecentre.co.uk or, for further details, visit speakersfromtheedge.com
