FOR the purpose of this review of Sale Nomads' 70th anniversary panto, Cinderella, I am a little girl of seven.

I’m on my way home, clutching my lolly after joining the other kids singing bibbidi-bobbidi-boo on stage.

I love Buttons (Richard Ross) who guides us through the song before a quick change for the wedding scene. I guard his box with my life and yell a warning when anyone goes near.

Not just we children, but grown-ups, too, love Sarah Reilly as Cinders and Laura Brocklebank as her prince. They sing lovely songs together and I adore the Irish fairy godmother (Grainne Wiggan) who produces the coach, designed by Steve Morley, and magics Cinderella’s beautiful blue gown.

The Ball scene, with its huge moon and graceful dancers in lovely dresses. some younger than me, is great.

The Ugly Sisters, Roberto Lavorini and Stuart Harding, attempt unsuccessfully to catch the Prince’s eye. They are funny when they try on the slipper and it doesn’t fit. I giggle when they trump!

I boo my head off at Baroness Hardup (Anna Sillitoe) who hates kids. We hate her and dislike her cruelty to her placid husband (Joe Cramsie) and poor Cinderella.

I and the other kids are fascinated by Josh Moreton who is a little pumpkin who dances and talks.
