MINIKIN Paint a Pot, a unique art and clay workshop based at 11 Northenden Road, opposite Sale station, have lots to do during the school holidays.

Claire Oliver, 40, who founded Minikin six years ago, said : “We are planning one whole day arts workshop on August 9 from 10am to 4 pm for children of all ages. Parents should stay with those under 8.

“They will get the chance to make items such as fairy doors and tea light houses from clay. Children can paint their names on canvas using acrylics and put them on their bedroom walls. They will also design and paint ceramic plates which, after kiln firing, can be used at mealtimes.

“Working with kiln fired clay is something children don’t often experience. It will be a great day for creative children.”

The day will cost £40, payable in advance, and children should bring their own lunches.

Throughout the rest of the summer, Minikin will be open as usual from Tuesday – Saturday from 10am to 5pm for pottery painting and will include regular short workshops for adults and children.

Claire opened Minikin six years ago and her son, Alfie, now 13, who looks after customers and helps with marketing, thought up the name.

“Minikin means a person or object that is delicate, dainty or diminutive which I think is apt,” said Claire.

Claire also uses clay to make foot and hand imprints. “They can capture a moment in time,” she said.

She sells silver imprint jewellery and arranges birthday parties, hen parties and adult evening workshops.
