THE summer season at the Waterside Arts Centre is sure to strike the right chord with Trafford people - with a range of top musical artists among its forthcoming attractions.

Leo and Anto from The Saw Doctors, Big Country and Toyah Wilcox are set to play at the WAC.

Other visitors include Mark Thompson from the BBC programme Stargazing Live, whose show Stargazer is suitable for all ages. He comes to Sale on June 22.

Comedy fans can enjoy The Independent Agony Aunt Virginia Ironside’s one-woman stand-up show Growing Old Disgracefully in May, plus the regular Buzz comedy nights in May and June.

The original Buzz started in Chorlton and helped launch the careers of some of the industry's biggest names. It was started by John Marshall, or Agraman as many knew him, and he came from Sale.

Square Peg Theatre Company return to the Waterside with its new play Roseacre from 15-18 July, inspired by Nordic noir thrillers such as The Killing; When an anti-fracking demonstration at Roseacre turns violent a group of protestors must fight to uncover the truth.

There will also be an opportunity to see the Edinburgh Preview show of The Gambit by Mark Reid from July 22-23.

As usual there is plenty of family theatre, including the WAC's annual outdoor show at Walkden Gardens in June. This year it will be Mr Stink by David Walliams.
