Sarah Harding has said she didn’t even have to audition to land her Coronation Street role.
The ex-Girls Aloud singer, who had a role in the St Trinian’s movies, will be at the centre of a big storyline involving the Barlows on the ITV soap.
Sarah told the Daily Mirror that show bosses offered her the part after watching her previous acting work on YouTube and meeting her at a charity event on the cobbles.
“I did a bit of charity work there and got chatting,” she told the newspaper.
“They knew I was a fan because I was running around going mental, going, ‘There’s Audrey’s!’ I said I would love to be on it.
“My mum is so thrilled by it. She buys all the soap magazines.”
Sarah said she has a “bit of a multi-accent” as a result of being raised in Surrey before moving north to Stockport.
She added: “Wait and see what I sound like. I don’t get my script until nearer the time. I can’t wait to see it.”
