To mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, Altrincham Garrick is to re-live the songs of the era in its next production.

Oh What A Lovely War is a hugely popular play including great songs based on stories and songs from the Music Hall period.

The original production in 1963 had a tremendous impact and set out to change attitudes to war using a devastating and successful theatrical style.

With famous songs like Pack Up Your Troubles and They Didn't Believe Me, the show premiered at Stratford in 1963 and transferred to Broadway two years later when it scooped a highly prestigious Tony Award, with Victor Spinetti named Best Actor In A Musical.
