If you're lucky enough to have a ticket, you're sure to fall in love with Romeo and Juliet all over again, after seeing HOME's magical and memorable production.

Manchester's Victoria Baths, a stunning, partially restored Edwardian building provides an unlikely but perfect backdrop for Shakespeare's tale of doomed teenage love.

There were occasions when Walter Meierjohann's version felt like a film and the final scene, so movingly atmospheric, is worth the ticket money on its own. I took a sharp intake of breath when I saw the setting - but don't what to spoil this almost spiritual surprise for those going to see the play.

Equally impressive is the way Alex Felton and Sara Vickers capture the awkwardness of adolescence, as Romeo and Juliet, swept along on a tide of utter infatuation. This is a tribute to Meierjohann's considerable talents as a director - what a creative talent we have here - and the performances of the two very gifted leads.

The Library Theatre, the company's predecessor, had an uncanny ability to bring a vigour and a freshness to well told tales and HOME is sure to carry on that noble tradition on the evidence of this.

HOME's Romeo and Juliet is sadly sold out, but if you can get your hands on returns, do not hesitate to go. This is one of the best productions I've seen and it will stay locked in my memory for many years to come. A work of genius.
