ONE thing that really excites me is when enterprising individuals or organisations take live performances into unusual venues.
So it is with Fish, Chips and Rock and Roll, the latest project set up by Altrincham based music promoter Alex McCann.
He’s going to put on a gig in Bentley’s, the fish and chip restaurant and take away on Stamford New Road.
“It’s basically the best acoustic acts from around South Manchester playing and with your £5 ticket you get a free portion of chips.
"Bentley’s also do battered Mars bars and battered Snickers, and as far as I know I don’t think anywhere round here does that kind of thing,” he says.
Alex hopes the start time of 6pm will encourage more families to attend and he thinks he’s stumbled on a winning combination in music, chips and beer - a bar will be available.
“I’ve been putting gigs on for years in the same old venues and thiis place is intimate and it’s something that’s never been done before,” he says.
Alex hopes Fish, Chips and Rock and Roll will become a monthly event. Rick Bowen * Fish, Chips and Rock and Roll is at Bentley’s, Stamford New Road, Altrincham, on September 18.
