FIRST-TIME buyers priced out of the property market in Lymm have jumped at the chance to buy a home with the Government’s Shared Ownership scheme, now available at a sought-after new development in Lymm village. Seven of the 10 homes launched for sale at The Hollytrees just two weeks ago have already been snapped up. Prices start from just £88,000 based on a 40 per cent share. Full price is £220,000.

The development has been built by award-winning affordable home ownership company, Plumlife, offering stylish three and four-bedroom mews-style homes, located on Sandy Lane, within walking distance of Lymm village.

Property prices in Lymm are among the highest in the north west, with the average house price now more than £300,000. Consequently, many working people view their chances of achieving their home ownership dreams as unrealistic, due largely to the huge deposits demanded by lenders. Interest in the scheme has been extremely high, says Plumlife, although not unexpected, given the desirability and enduring appeal of the area. For many local families Shared Ownership will offer their best chance yet to buy a home in the area.

Shared Ownership is a popular, long-established part buy-part-rent scheme which gives working people earning a household income of under £60,000 a year the chance to buy beautiful homes that would otherwise be out of reach.

Built by Manchester-based developer, Great Places Housing Group, all the homes feature contemporary fitted kitchens and bathrooms, spacious and flexible living spaces, private gardens and allocated parking. Commenting on early interest already shown by residents in Lymm and the surrounding area, Lisa Westerman, Plumlife Group Head of Sales said: “We’ve received unprecedented interest in this development, right from the early build stage.

“Many first-time buyers want to buy in the area in which they grew up, but until now have been pessimistic about their chances of being able to do so.

“There are very few alternatives in the area even close to this low price bracket, so we’re confident they’ll all be snapped up pretty quickly.

“Shared Ownership is a tried and trusted scheme which continues to offer much-needed help to working people who would otherwise struggle to ever buy a home in their chosen location.”

To help people find that all important mortgage, Plumlife also offers eligible buyers access to free, impartial mortgage advice from a panel of financial advisers.

The Hollytrees show home is open every Saturday from 11am until 4pm. Viewers welcome.
