OH dear how quickly the time has sped by, alas though not my ability to run super fast (which is something I can't do before you ask).
There are now just five days to go until the Great Run and although I am still not the world's greatest athlete (how could this be?!) the boyfriend and I are quietly confident we can pull it off.
Since completing our 10k run I have spent rather a lot of time tied to the treadmill just trying to get as much distance, and therefore fitness, under my belt as possible.
I have a feeling we should be all right come Sunday but I do feel rather apprehensive not least because of all the spectators who may take one look at my tomato-red face and laugh and because the event will be televised on BBC2 and I don't want to be caught on camera for posterity. Not one little bit.
I have been trying to accrue more money too for the Brain and Spine cause and I believe that I shall make the £200 target, which I must do by hook or by crook otherwise it comes out of my own pocket and i'm putting in a hell of a lot of work as it is goshdarnit!
Me and boy are actually now thinking it would be a shame to give all the new found fitness (eh ehm) up after this run and are trying to think of ways in which to carry on. Incentives are key so we're on the look out for other races in the region by which to spread our wings.
On Sunday we will start our wave of the run at 11.15am. This was revealed to us after we received an exciting pack through the post with number tags, maps and microchips that time us. We think. Let's hope we aren't too abysmal in that capacity.
We also got an email telling us that shining beacons from such delightful bastions as Hollyoaks and Corrie will be competing, as if there wasn't pressure enough on us normal souls!
Afterwards there will be a party at Charlie, Paula and Lizzie's lovely home and believe me I can't wait to get the reward for all the strain.
So there you have it. Training done save for a few small runs inbetween now and then that are small fry to us now. Ha! See you for the post-race analysis. If I'm still alive that is!
