ST Ambrose College GCSE grades showed a sharp rise with 84 per cent at A* to B up from 79 per cent last year.

The number of young men achieving at least five A* to A grades also rose significantly from 48 per cent to 52 per cent.

Matthew Sullivan, 16, from Warrington, got eight A*s and three A grades and ultimately wants to study Chemical or Aerospace Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Nick Gartland, 16, from Warrington got 10 A*s and one B and wants a career on Broadway or the West End.

Dominic Howarth, 16, from Newton le Willows, got nine A*s, one A and one B, and just wants to do as well at A Level as he did in his GCSEs.

David Jones, 16, from Altrincham, got nine A*s and two As and is another happy to take it step by step.

Also looking to his A Levels is Ben Hughes, 16, from Altrincham who got nine A*s and two As.

Thomas Bennett, 16, got nine A*s and two As and said, “It was hard work, but worth the reward.”

Football fan Connor Kilcullen, 16, from Heaton Mersey got six A*s and four As and joked that for all his academic success he'd really want to win the Champions League.

Like Connor, Sean Neary, 16, from Heaton Moor, is a Duke of Edinburgh award winner and he got six A*s, four As and one B.

Finally Connor Keogh, 16, from Heaton Moor, got six A*s, four A grades and one B.

St. Ambrose College headmaster, Michael Thompson, said: “Our results continue to rise on a strong upward curve and there can be no doubt that everyone is benefitting from working in a wonderful new school building, designed to foster excellence.”
