IT was a bright and early start for Trafford College’s excited A-lvel students who were out in force this morning to collect the results they’d been waiting for all summer.

And once again celebrations were in full swing after another successful year of results with an exceptional pass rate of 97 per cent and an eight per cent increase in high grade achievement (A*-B).

Students gathered at the Altrincham campus and eagerly opened their results with anticipation, revealing a 100 per cent pass rate in 12 subject areas, including Law, Biology, Applied Science, Sociology, and Communication and Culture.

The college, which has celebrated a year of accolades and the opening of its brand new Centre for Science and Technology, has an impressive track record of students progressing to university, and this year is no exception.

Celebrating the start of her journey to university life this year is one of thecCollege’s highest achievers and maths whiz, Bethany Barrow, 18, from Stretford.

Opening her envelope this morning to reveal an A*, A and two Bs in Art, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry, a thrilled Beth said: “I’m over the moon with my results today and very relieved.

"I came to Trafford College because I wanted to prepare myself for the independence you experience at university and to build on my confidence.

"I’d advise anyone thinking about starting A Levels with the College just to do it! I’m so happy I did and I can’t wait to get started at university.”

Bethany will now take her place on a maths degree at the University of Manchester as well as looking forward to an internship next year.

Joining Bethany in the celebrations this morning was Emily Wong, 19, from Stockport.

Securing her place at Leeds University to study English and Japanese after sailing through her A Levels with an A and two Bs, Emily said: “I’m so happy that I have my place in university!

"I’d really like to work in Japan after finishing my degree and these results have taken me a step closer to achieving my dream.

"My sister came to Trafford College before me so I wanted to follow in her footsteps.

"The best advice I could give anyone coming to study A-levels at college is to be prepared to work hard and put everything into it, and your hard work will pay off.”

Trafford College Principal, Sir Bill Moorcroft, said: “It’s been a fantastic morning at Trafford College and our students have done exceptionally well once again this year.

"The hard work and commitment demonstrated by these students throughout the year shouldn’t be underestimated, and today is a celebration of their achievements.

"I am especially pleased with the increase in high grade achievement and that so many of our students will now continue with their success stories as they progress onto university to study a range of inspiring courses.

"I would like to pass on my congratulations to all the students at the college, and wish them well in the future.”
