KING'S A-level students were seeing stars after smashing the school’s record for A Level results and topping the league tables with 54 per cent of all grades at A*/A, up from 43 per cent last year.

In what are the best examination results ever achieved by the Macclesfield independent school, 24 per cent of all grades were at A*; 54 per cent of all grades were A*/A with more than 80 per cent of grades at A* - B.

An astonishing 50 students achieved three As or better; 14 students achieved three A*s or better and four students achieved four of the top A* grades or better.

An impressive 12 students will go on to either Oxford or Cambridge universities, six will be going to read Medicine or Veterinary Medicine, plus six are going on to study Law.

The King’s high flyers who achieved A*s in four or more subjects are: Richard Southern, from Poynton, got four A*s and will now read Medicine at Pembroke College, Cambridge.

 Anna Townley, from Kettlesulme, also got four A*s and will read Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry at Oriel College, Cambridge.

Charlotte Harrop, from Buxton, also got four A*s and will go up to Queen's College Cambridge to read Engineering; while Edward Nathan, from Macclesfield, got an amazing five A *s and is going to Durham to read Physics.
