The latest business venture to open in Alderley Edge has just launched. Select Education Centres provide tuition for students from nursery age right through to A-Levels.
The brainchild of company director, Gillian Akaraonye, the tuition centre has been founded to support children, parents and schools alike by enabling students to reach their potential through structured, individual tuition.
With a successful independent school, Auckland College, and a tuition centre already in Gillian's native Liverpool, she felt the time was right to launch a business in Cheshire, after moving recently to the region.

As a qualified teacher who has made the transition to a successful business career, Gillian's views will echo the thoughts of many a parent: "From choosing the right school, to helping support children through various assessments and exams, parents have so much to worry about nowadays when it comes to their child's school life, and I really feel that our centre can help them."
Select Education Centres will work with students who register individually, but will also be developing links with local schools, all of whom are under increasing pressure to meet demanding targets. The tuition centre's success is attributed to several things, including class sizes of no more than six, the individual attention and carefully devised targets for each child, the regular feedback given to parents and the dedicated, enthusiastic and well qualified staff.
Gillian is confident that having these values as the central core of the company's philosophy, coupled with today's launch, heralds the beginning of another successful enterprise that will be of great benefit to the community.
